This project developed and demonstrated an interactive compact disc multimedia training program in a video and a CD-ROM format. The goal of the project was to improve the transit employee's ability to handle incidents of violence and aggression. The project has undergone several format changes dictated by changes in technology since the project was initiated. The training program implementation strategies were under development in coordination with the National Transit Institute at Rutgers University and a number of transit agencies. San Francisco Municipal Railway (MUNI) collaborated with the National Transit Institute and six other transit properties around the country in developing and testing this training program. The production of the compact disc program, "Customers, Conflicts, and You: A Transit Operator's Guide to Problem Solving," has been completed. The visual and audio materials were reviewed and assembled, and a database of these assets--audio and visual components--was created. The final revised narration, music, and sound were recorded. The final version of the video was completed at an on-line post-production facility. In addition, the program interface design, art, learner log-in, computer mouse tutorial, and the navigational tutorial were finalized. The assets were digitized. The training package, incuding the video and CD-ROM and Instructor Guidebook has been completed. It is available from the National Transit Institute.
