Jessie Guidry Baginski has served as the
Director of Communication for Laketran, the
regional transit authority for Lake County,
Ohio, since 2000. She is responsible for
all aspects of communications for the
agency, which earned APTA’s distinction of
Best Small Transit System in 2000 and in
2005. She has received numerous APTA
AdWheels, and local and state communications
awards for her work in marketing and public
relations.
Baginski is committed to lifelong
learning. She returned to college as
an adult to earn an Associate of Arts
in Applied Business from Lakeland
Community College in 1997, a Bachelor
of Arts in Management from Ursuline
College in 2000, and a Master of Arts
in Education in May of 2008 from
Marietta College. Her thesis was on
the importance of travel training for
students with disabilities in a
suburban environment. She recently
served as faculty for Easter Seals
Project ACTION Mobility Planning
Institute in Washington, DC.
Baginski is currently a doctoral
student Cleveland State University in
Urban Education - Leadership/Lifelong
Learning. A native of New Orleans,
she hopes to focus her dissertation on
the meaning of post-Katrina volunteer
experiences for young adults.
In 2008, Baginski received the Maureen
Fitzgerald Leadership Award from the
Ohio Governor’s Council on People with
Disabilities for ten years of work
with high school juniors and seniors
with disabilities at Ohio’s Youth
Leadership Forum. She was inducted
into the Lakeland Community College
Alumni Hall of Fame in 2008.
Baginski is an active member of
Leadership Lake County, the Mentor and
Painesville Chambers of Commerce,
Lakeland College Foundation and
Captain’s Charities.
