Roberto Galvez, Jr. is an Associate
Planner in the data collection section
of Broward County Transit (BCT) in
Pompano Beach, Florida. Prior to
entering the transit industry in 2005,
he recently graduated from high school
in 2003 and attended college, where he
eventually received his Bachelors
Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies,
concentrated in Information
Technology.
While at BCT, his career started out
as an assistant in processing data and
reporting ridership statistics.
Throughout the years, he expanded his
responsibilities and acquired
experience in data analysis and
transit technology.
His current duties include reporting
to the National Transit Database
(NTD), performing analyses in
Geographical Information Systems
(GIS), system and database management
of existing transit applications,
including the Electronic Fare
Collection system and Automatic
Passenger Counter (APC) system. He
also led the agency in the partnership
with Google Transit.
His areas of interest include advanced
public transportation systems, data
analysis, and information technology.
Currently, he is pursuing a Masters
Degree in Computer Science at the
University of West Florida. He lives
in Coral Springs, FL with his wife
April and daughter, Alani.
