Barney L. McCoy's transit career started 14 years
ago in the Marketing Department for the Chattanooga
Area Regional Transit Authority (CARTA) in
Chattanooga, TN. There he split his duties between
the transit system and their sister agency-the
Electric Transit Vehicle Institute (ETVI)-which
promoted the use of alternative fuel vehicles,
specifically electric transit buses. He spent time
in Houston, TX with the Metropolitan Transit
Authority of Harris County (METRO) in EEO
Compliance and with Texas Southern University's
Center for Transportation Training & Research. He
received his Masters Degree in Transportation
Planning & Management from Texas Southern
University. Before accepting his current position
with HRT, he was employed with United Airlines in
Chicago, IL for 8 years in International Customer
Service Operations.
