Current Ambassadors — Biographies

Lyle Pereira

Lyle is an Assistant Manager for Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District (TriMet) in Portland Oregon. He is new to the transit industry (8 months) but has been in transportation for 23 years. He has recently retired from the US Army and has served in positions of increased responsibility including Fleet Manager for the 1st Armored Division in Baghdad, Iraq. He has spent over 13 years living abroad in Germany, where he served as a manager for the US Army Band's Bus transportation division. He is also the honored recipient of the "Meritorious Service Medal" and was selected as Transportation Leader of the Year in 1999. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management.

Lyle gained extensive operations management experience in the Army. He developed and managed managed a driver-training program recognized as the U.S. Army's best in Europe.

His management philosophy is that the employees and customers are his supervisor. His priorities include supporting front line employees and making available the tools for achieving success.
